Radiological Protection against Radon Exposure

Draft document: Radiological Protection against Radon Exposure

Dear colleagues,

I would like to suggest the addition of the references to the international standards on radon measurement that are on their final drafting stage and that will be published this year (2012) by the International standardization organisation (ISO).

An indication of these standards on the different test methods of radon could be added in clause "4.1.3 dealing with Radon measurement techniques and protocols 1752" at the end of line "(139) Several measurement methods do exist (WHO, 2009; ISO, 2012)

with the addition of their titles in clause "4.4 References" of:

ISO 11665 - Part 1: Radon-222 and its short-lived decay products in the atmospheric environment : their origins and measurement methods, Geneva, 2012

ISO 11665 - Part 2: Radon-222: Integrated measurement methods for the determination of the average potential alpha energy concentration of short-lived radon decay products in the atmospheric environment, Geneva, 2012.

ISO 11665 - Part 3: Radon-222: Spot measurement methods of the potential alpha energy concentration of short-lived radon decay products in the atmospheric environment, Geneva, 2012.

ISO 11665 - Part 4: Radon-222: Integrated measurement methods for the determination of the average radon activity concentration in the atmospheric environment using passive sampling and delayed analysis, Geneva, 2012.

ISO 11665 - Part 5: Radon-222: Continuous measurement methods of radon activity concentration in the atmospheric environment, Geneva, 2012.

ISO 11665 - Part 6: Radon-222: Spot measurement methods of radon activity concentration in the atmospheric environment, Geneva, 2012.

ISO 11665 - Part 7: Radon-222: Methods for estimation of surface exhalation rate by accumulation method in the environment, Geneva, 2012.

Best regards

Dominique CALMET
